Coach Jay Shorter has 30 years of teaching experience in the Washington, DC and Virginia areas. He is a graduate of American University and has coached baseball, basketball, football and tennis for over 45 years. Coach Shorter's largest accomplishments in basketball are his seventeen middle school championships and an AAU National Championship representing the Metropolitan Police Boys' Club of Washington, DC. More than forty of his middle school players eventually attended division one colleges on full athletic scholarships with 33 of his players graduating with a degree. Attending college has become a positive life changing experience for many of the these student-athletes. The Coach has always stressed safe participation in all sports and better play through the building of character, sportsmanship, and commitment while emphasizing academics first.
